Improve Ballot Access
In New York State, it’s ridiculously difficult to get ballot access – that is, to qualify for a line on the ballot. For decades, for an organization to secure a line on the ballot, the law required the organization to collect signatures for an Independent Designating Petition and collect 15,000 signatures of New York Voters. After doing so, candidate the organization had secured on the ballot then had to get at least 50,000 votes to secure the ballot line for the next four years. Seems pretty steep and challenging, right?
