UJP Claims Strong Election Night Victory
With the 2020 election being one like none other, UJP celebrated victory! We went into the night with a strong bipartisan slate across the State, based on our platform. In total, UJP had endorsed 19 candidates in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, Mohawk Valley, Central New York, Southern Tier, and Western New York. When the votes were (mostly) counted late last night, a whopping 14 of those endorsed candidates stood victorious with another 3 in races too close to call.
This stunning election night victory was even more profound, as some in the media were openly speculating about a Democratic Supermajority in the NYS Senate. This speculation was put to bed early, as UJP candidates held Senate seats in 10 races, and overwhelmed incumbents in two more. These victories in the Senate could be bolstered by an underdog win from Sam Rodgers in Central New York, who currently trails by a mere 136 votes to incumbent Rachel May, with about 22,000 absentee ballots to be counted.
While the two loses UJP took in the Senate sting, we’re watching vote counts closely in two more races beyond the Rodgers race, where UJP candidates have a chance to win races currently too close to call. In total, UJP spent approximately $84,000 in support of great candidates all over the State, with our digital ads reaching more than 4.3 million impressions, our mailers reaching nearly 40,000 homes and our Facebook ads engaging more than 13,000 voters.
2020 is just the beginning and the best is yet to come!
