Unite NY Statement on Package of Democracy Reform Laws Signed by Governor Hochul

Today, Governor Hochul’s office announce she had signed a package of Democracy Reform and voting rights bills.

As a result, Unite NY Executive Director Timothy Dunn released the following statement:

“We appreciate the effort to address democracy reform being made by the Governor and Legislature. While we are always glad to see work being done to get more voters engaged in the electoral process, there is still a lot of important work to do to improve New York’s paltry voter turnout and truly empower voters. We look forward to continuing to have important discussions with policymakers about vital reforms that give more voices more choices through reforms such as term limits, increased ballot access, citizen ballot initiatives and nonpartisan primaries going forward.”
